Worshipper. Worship Leader. Songwriter.

Worship hasalways beenpersonal.

I’m John Great—a worshipper, worship leader and songwriter.

Long before there were songs to release or platforms to share them on, there was simply a love for Jesus and a desire to worship Him.

That is still where everything begins.

The beginning

It started with worship.

I grew up in Nigeria, and my relationship with music and worship began early.

Church became one of the places where that love was nurtured. I served, sang and eventually began taking on responsibility in worship, long before I imagined releasing music of my own.

Looking back, I can see that God was shaping something long before I understood what it would become. At the time, I wasn’t thinking about becoming an artist. I simply loved Jesus, loved worship and wanted to serve.

That foundation still matters to me today.

The journey

From Nigeria to the United Kingdom.

Life eventually brought me from Nigeria to the United Kingdom, but worship came with me.

There have been seasons of clarity and seasons where I’ve had to wait. There have been prayers answered quickly and others that have taught me patience. Through all of it, I’ve found myself returning to the same truths: God is faithful, His presence is enough, and He can be trusted even when I don’t understand what He’s doing.

Those experiences have inevitably found their way into the music.

I don’t write from a place of having everything figured out. I write from what I’m living, what I’m learning and the things God keeps bringing me back to.

to follow Him till the end.” — Made Up My Mind

The songs

Somewhere along the way, the songs came.

Songwriting became another way of expressing the things I had been praying, learning and sometimes wrestling with.

Made Up My Mind came from that place—a decision that following Jesus isn’t something I want to do only when life makes sense. It’s the choice I want to keep making.

Other songs have come from different places, but I try not to write simply because it’s time to release something. I want the songs to come from somewhere real.

If a lyric gives someone words to pray, reminds them of God’s faithfulness or simply turns their attention back towards Jesus, then the song has done something worthwhile.

The heart

Why I still worship.

There are many things I love about music, but worship has never really been about music for me.

It’s about Jesus.

It’s about responding to who He is, not only with a song, but with a life.

I’m still learning what that means. I’m still growing in faith. I’m still discovering new reasons to trust Him.

Perhaps that’s what I hope people hear when they listen to the music: not someone who has arrived, but someone who has decided where he’s going.

And by God’s grace, I want to keep following Him.

I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. Psalm 34:1

Today

Still following.
Still writing.
Still worshipping.

Today, I live in the United Kingdom and continue to serve as a worship leader while writing and releasing music through John Great Music.

Songs such as Made Up My Mind and Age to Age have become part of that story, and there is more music ahead, including Duro.

I’m grateful for every person God allows these songs to reach, but I don’t want growth, releases or platforms to cause me to forget why any of this began.

I want to know Jesus more deeply, love Him more completely and, through whatever God places in my hands, help other people turn their hearts towards Him.

That’s still the heart behind John Great Music.

Thank you for being here.

Whether you found the music yesterday or you’ve been listening for a while, I’m grateful that our paths have crossed.

I hope something you hear, watch or read here encourages you in your own walk with God—and, most importantly, points you back to Jesus.
